What I Hope To Accomplish
Pike County is at a crucial crossroad and if we act now we can prevent total break down but we have to get a handle on what we are doing and how we are spending our money.
State law requires that we have a balanced budget. How can we balance that if we don't know what it is?
The law of common sense and logic requires that commissioners know what the law is concerning personal property rights, land use and development.
That same law of common sense requires commissioners to not promise what they cannot provide and not build what they cannot support.
Common sense should dictate pro-active measures to be able to pay for what you order and to order what you can afford.
As your commissioner I will do all that is within my power to hold back on new expense and demand accountability on how your tax dollars are being spent. Government should process within the budget boundaries of basic needs, solid growth programs and fiscal accountability.

We have in this county an abundance of beautiful pastures, stately oaks, pecan and peach orchards. There are game filled forests, meandering creeks, warm springs, fishing ponds and the Flint River. We have a pro-active recreation department, a progressive school system and expanding library system. We have citizens active in preserving and restoring historic sites and we have citizens growing successful businesses.
As your commissioner I will support programs that protect the quality of life we have.

We have a good public school system and our children are our future. They are important and each child is gifted in some way. Educational diversity is as important as the basics are and offering diversity at the mid and high school level is crucial in avoiding what I call "drop out syndrome".
As your commissioner I will support programs that provide incentive for your children to do their best.

Pike County has a problem with zoning and ordinance's that need to be corrected. We have a good basic plan in place but the Comprehensive Land Use plan is a growing and constantly changing document that is vital to healthy growth.
As your commissioner I will be in a position to make sure that citizens are not left out of the decision making process. Your voice needs to be heard and I want to make sure it is.

We have growth problems likened to growing pains and we need pro-active measures to minimize the pain and provide sound management principals to insure that our growth does not surpass our ability to provide the basic safety essentials.
As your commissioner I will do all that I can help minimize the growing pains by making logical, legal and functional decisions that protect those of us who live here while supporting opportunities for sound growth.
